Dr. Don Hong is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), serving as Actuarial Sciences Coordinator. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Texas A&M University, with postdoctoral training at the University of Texas-Austin in Computational Mathematics. Prior to MTSU, he was a tenured full professor at East Tennessee State University and held Visiting Professor positions at Vanderbilt University's Mathematics and Biostatistics departments.
His research focuses on Approximation Theory, Splines, Wavelets, Medical Data Analysis, and Computational Statistics. He has published two books and over 60 peer-reviewed articles. Notable awards include the 2009 MTSU Distinguished Faculty Research Award and the 2020 CAS University Award for MTSU's Actuarial Program.
