Don Fuchs

Professor Don Fuchs is Dean Emeritus at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Social Work with expertise in addictions, mental health, and services for individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). His research portfolio includes international projects in Ghana and Russia, examining child welfare system impacts and economic costs of FASD.

Research interests focus on:

• Addiction prevention programs for at-risk mothers
• Mental health service frameworks
• Cross-cultural child welfare models
• Economic analysis of social services

Dr. Fuchs founded the tri-provincial Prairie Child Welfare Consortium and secured $3.2M+ in research funding. He supervised 140 Master's and 20 PhD students while serving as external examiner for 10 doctoral candidates.
