Dr. Dominik Kremer is a Researcher and Research Technology Coordinator at the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography (IfL) since July 2025. His roles include managing institute operations and advancing digital research infrastructure. Previously, he held postdoctoral positions at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen and Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg, alongside extensive experience as an IT consultant in geo-content delivery.
His research focuses on geocommunication, place-based GIS analysis, and digital tools for education and heritage. Key projects include the GeoExplorer app for fieldwork and public trails, and SpaceLog for tracking green space experiences. He actively contributes to the Visual Regional Geographies initiative and the EEGA Science Campus.
Kremer is deeply engaged in digital humanities, co-editing the book Geographical Research in the Digital Humanities and leading initiatives on theory and project management. He chairs committees in the German Society of Geography and the Digital Humanities community, advocating for interdisciplinary collaboration.
His work bridges technology and human geography, emphasizing practical applications in education and public engagement. Recent projects explore mobile GIS for wellbeing studies and collaborative research methodologies like Scrum in academic contexts.
