Dominik Asam

Dominik Asam is a Research Fellow and Doctoral Candidate at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research). He holds an M.Sc. in Management & Technology from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), with majors in Economics and Computer Science, and has completed visiting research stints at the University of Cambridge and Bocconi University. His research focuses on the Economics of Artificial Intelligence, Innovation Economics, and Entrepreneurial Finance.

His work examines how emerging technologies like Generative AI influence startup productivity, leveraging quasi-natural experiments such as the release of GitHub Copilot. Notably, he found a 20% reduction in time-to-initial-funding for software startups leveraging such tools. Asam has been recognized with the Bundesbank Research Prize (2024) and the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship (2022–2023).

Professionally, he co-founded and manages CompCast, a startup, and has held roles at Siemens AI Lab, venture capital firms, and social enterprises like Enactus Munich’s Waterfilter project. His research and entrepreneurial activities intersect technology adoption, managerial decision-making, and innovation ecosystems.
