Dominic Zerulla is Professor and Head of the School of Physics at University College Dublin. He founded the Plasmonics and Ultra-fast NanoOptics group and leads PEARlabs Technologies Ltd., a UCD spin-out commercializing plasmonic imaging technology.
Academic leadership includes developing novel MSc programs in Nanophysics & Biophysics and serving as Director of Graduate Teaching. Teaching innovations earned the inaugural UCD EMPS Teaching Award (2008). Research focuses on plasmonics-enabled super-resolution imaging, nanoscale light-matter interactions, and ultrafast spectroscopy.
Significant grants include SFI awards for plasmonic sensing and solar energy conversion. Scientific honors include the SFI Future Innovator Prize (2019, 2020) and IOP Fellowship (2007). Publications span plasmonic materials, carbon nanotube mechanics, and nanoscale biosensing.
