About
Prof. Dr. Dominic Gregor Kittemann holds the HTA Research Professorship for Sustainable Production Systems in Fruit Growing at Hochschule Weihenstepfan-Triesdorf (HSWT), Faculty of Horticulture and Food Technology. He serves as Scientific Director of the Schlachters Fruit Growing Experimental Station and Library Representative for the GL Faculty. His teaching responsibilities include courses such as Production Processes in Fruit Growing, Postharvest Physiology, and Tropical Horticulture.
His research focuses on optimizing fruit storage techniques, anaerobic metabolism in stored fruits, and sustainable production systems. Key projects include investigating dynamic controlled atmosphere (DCA) storage strategies to reduce softening in apples and energy-efficient storage solutions. Recent work explores ethanol’s role in inhibiting fruit softening and temperature impacts on storage quality.
Publications emphasize peer-reviewed studies on fruit physiology, storage dynamics, and crop management. He collaborates extensively, with notable co-authors including Daniel Neuwald and Michael Beck. His research directly addresses practical challenges in horticultural sustainability and postharvest technology.
Notable projects include evaluating water management strategies in fruit growing regions and advancing decision-support systems for sustainable agricultural practices.
