Dominic Busch

Prof. Dominic Busch holds a W3 professorship for Intercultural Communication and Conflict Research at the Universität der Bundeswehr München. He leads the Department of Interkulturelle Kommunikation und Konfliktforschung within the Faculty of Human Sciences. His academic career includes positions at the Europa-Universität Viadrina and University of Jyväskylä, alongside extensive editorial roles in intercultural studies. He earned a PhD (summa cum laude, 2004) and diploma from the Europa-Universität Viadrina, with research focused on intercultural mediation theory, post-qualitative methods, and cultural discourse analysis.

Research interests span intercultural mediation, posthumanist theory, digital interculturality, and ethical frameworks. He has authored/edited over 130 publications including monographs like In the Dispositif of Intercultural Communication and The Routledge Handbook of Intercultural Mediation. His work bridges communication sciences, cultural theory, and conflict resolution, receiving awards such as the Mediations-Wissenschaftspreis 2004.

Teaching includes graduate programs in intercultural communication and conflict studies, with courses on theoretical foundations, methodologies, and applied research. He actively serves on academic committees, including the Faculty Board, and chairs international conferences.
