Icahn School of Medicine at Mount SinaiAbout
Dmitriy Zamarin is an Associate Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a member of the Tisch Cancer Institute and Marc and Jennifer Lipschultz Precision Immunology Institute. He obtained his MD and PhD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, completed Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Hospital, and Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), where he served as Translational Research Director in Gynecologic Medical Oncology for a decade before transitioning to his current role in 2023.
Dr. Zamarin's research focuses on the immunology of gynecologic cancers, particularly mechanisms of resistance to immune therapies and the development of novel combinatorial treatments. His work spans clinical trial leadership (as principal investigator and translational chair) and laboratory exploration using mouse models to study tumor-immune interactions, with emphasis on oncolytic viruses, vaccines, and targeted therapies. Recent publications highlight advancements in HERV-K detection, tumor stress responses during surgery, HPV-independent vulvar cancer microenvironment profiling, and cervical cancer immunotherapy trial design.
His research integrates molecular biology and clinical oncology, aiming to bridge translational discoveries with direct patient impact. Collaborations with institutions like Memorial Sloan Kettering and Weill Cornell Medicine underscore his cross-institutional influence in gynecologic oncology research.
