Dmitriy Muravyev is an Associate Professor of Finance and Conrad W. and Shirley A. Hewitt Faculty Fellow at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Previously, he held roles at Michigan State University and Boston College. He earned a Ph.D. in Finance from UIUC, an M.A. in Economics from the New Economics School, and dual degrees in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Lomonosov Moscow State University.
His research focuses on market microstructure, derivatives, and algorithmic trading. Notable works include studies on informed trading, price discovery, and trading costs. He has received awards such as the Best Referee Award (2023) and Best Discussant Award (2022). His grants include funding from the Canadian Derivatives Institute and the Montreal Institute of Structured Products.
Teaching responsibilities include Financial Derivatives and Options & Futures Markets. He has organized the Virtual Derivatives Workshop and serves on editorial boards for journals like the Journal of Financial Economics and Review of Finance. His service includes roles as a conference discussant and program committee member for multiple finance conferences.
