Dmitri Shalin is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Center for Democratic Culture at UNLV. His research spans pragmatism, biographical methods, and post-Soviet societies, with recent books on Goffman's legacy (Routledge, 2025) and Russian intelligentsia. He edits the Social Health of Nevada Report and curates the Erving Goffman Archives. Teaching includes graduate seminars on classical theory and biographical sociology. Public sociology addresses police reform through the Nevada Consortium for Police Reform and analyses of Russia's war in Ukraine.
