Divya Mehta

Divya Mehta is a Principal Research Fellow in the School of Biomedical Sciences at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Her research focuses on psychiatric genetics, epigenetics, and the application of statistical methods to understand mental health disorders like PTSD and depression. She holds a Dr. rer. nat from the Technical University of Munich. Dr. Mehta teaches courses in Genetic Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Epigenetics. She has secured over $3 million in research grants, including NHMRC Project Grants and QUT fellowships, funding studies on trauma-related mental health and epigenetic mechanisms. Her work has led to over 75 publications in top journals such as Nature Genetics and PNAS. Awards include the Superstar of STEM and Queensland Young Tall Poppy Award. She leads interdisciplinary teams investigating biopsychosocial factors in trauma outcomes and collaborates internationally through consortia like the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium.
