Dirk Witt is a Lecturer in Social Sciences Didactics at the University of Hamburg's Faculty of Education. With over 25 years of teaching experience across Hamburg schools, he bridges classroom practice with academic pedagogy through his dual role as a Fachseminarleiter at Hamburg's Institute for Teacher Training.
His research examines inclusive methodologies for social sciences education, interdisciplinary curriculum design, and political literacy development. Witt has authored numerous teaching resources on topics ranging from historical thinking skills to sustainability education.
As founding chair of the Network for Social Sciences Educators, he coordinates national efforts to advance interdisciplinary teaching models. His leadership in developing Hamburg's educational frameworks includes contributions to the 2022 history curriculum and Gesellschaftswissenschaften learning domain standards.
