Dirk Winter

Prof. Dr. Dirk Winter serves as Professor for Equine Husbandry at HfWU, concurrently acting as Prodekan of the Fakultät AVM and Studiendekan for Pferdewirtschaft studies. He leads the Lehr- und Versuchsgut Jungborn, a teaching and experimental facility. His professional background includes over a decade in the animal feed industry with Deutsche Tiernahrung Cremer, where he held roles such as Sales Director for Pet Food and Scientific Director for Equine and Pet Nutrition.

Winter studied Agricultural Sciences at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, completing his diploma thesis on New Zealand thoroughbred breeding at Massey University, New Zealand. His doctoral research focused on genetic predispositions for limb disorders in horse breeding. He remains actively involved in equine sports, holding a Trainer C certification.

His expertise bridges academic research, industry application, and practical equine management. Current affiliations include leadership roles in equine education and research at HfWU.
