Diogo Kramel is a Research Fellow in the Industrial Ecology Programme at NTNU's Department of Energy and Process Engineering. He holds a BSc and MSc in Naval Architecture and Maritime Engineering from the University of São Paulo, and an MSc in Maritime Spatial Planning from the University of Sevilla, the University of the Azores, and the University of Venice (2019). He completed his PhD as part of the CLIMMS project, investigating climate change mitigation in the maritime sector. Currently, he contributes to the Nord_H2ub project, focusing on reducing GHG emissions through modeling with the MariTEAM framework and Life-Cycle Assessment.
His research emphasizes shipping decarbonization, integrated assessment modeling, and policy support. He has presented work at venues like the European Geosciences Union Assembly and the IAMC Annual Meeting. Key tools in his work include the MariTEAM model and MESSAGEix for linking shipping scenarios with broader energy systems.
Outreach efforts include seminars on shipping emissions reduction and Python-based sustainability analysis courses. His work bridges technical modeling with policy implications, aiming to inform sustainable shipping practices.
