Dimitris Bertsimas is the Boeing Leaders for Global Operations Professor of Management, a Professor of Operations Research, and the Associate Dean for the Master of Business Analytics at MIT. He was appointed Vice Provost for Open Learning in September 2024 and has been a faculty member since 1988. His research spans optimization, stochastic systems, machine learning, and applications in healthcare, finance, and climate adaptation.
- Education: BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from National Technical University of Athens; MS and PhD in Operations Research from MIT.
He has founded multiple companies including Dynamic Ideas (sold to American Express), Benefits Science, and MyA Health. His work on robust optimization and interpretable AI has transformed decision-making frameworks in healthcare, logistics, and energy systems. He supervises 22 doctoral students and has mentored over 90 graduate students.
