Dr. Dimitrios Argyropoulos is an Assistant Professor at University College Dublin's School of Biosystems and Food Engineering, leading the Digital AgTech Lab. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. His roles include Programme Director of the MSc in Digital Technology for Sustainable Agriculture and Principal Investigator in EU-funded projects like WATSON (€11M Horizon Europe initiative addressing food authenticity and traceability).
Education: BSc in Biosystems Engineering (Agricultural Machinery & Irrigation) from Greece, MSc in Environmental Protection & Agricultural Food Production from Germany’s University of Hohenheim, followed by a PhD in Agricultural Engineering. Postdoctoral research at Hohenheim focused on renewable energy systems and post-harvest technology.
Research interests center on sustainable agri-food systems, digitization (IoT, AI, hyperspectral imaging), and precision agriculture.
