Prof. Dr. Dieter Röh is a Professor of Social Work at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, where he also serves as Vice Dean for Research and Senate Representative for Disabled and Chronically Ill Students. His academic work focuses on the history, ethics, and theories of social work, clinical social work, and rehabilitation and participation.
His research interests include:

Prof. Röh is actively involved in the German Society for Social Work (DGSA), where he has been a board member since 2014 and one of the two chairmen since 2022. He is also the spokesperson for the Clinical Social Work Section and a member of the Theory and Scientific Development of Social Work Section.
He received his doctorate in 2005 from the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg with a thesis on empowerment for people with chronic mental illness. Prior to his academic career, he studied social work and health sciences at Emden University of Applied Sciences.
Prof. Röh advises on academic policy and student affairs, particularly for disabled and chronically ill students. He is engaged in institutional research leadership and professional society governance.
He is affiliated with research networks within the DGSA and contributes to the scientific development of social work as a discipline.
