Dieter Grommas has been Professor of Economics at the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts since August 2007, based in the Faculty of Architecture, Engineering and Conservation. He previously served as Vice President for Studies and Teaching at the Lower Saxony University of Applied Sciences and Arts (2004-2007) and as Professor at the Lower Saxony University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Legal Affairs (1995-2007).

Research & Teaching focus:
He teaches introductory economics, cost and performance accounting, annual financial statements under German GAAP (HGB) and their analysis, and controlling. His scholarly work centres on modernising municipal accounting systems, specifically the transition from traditional cameralistic bookkeeping to double-entry accounting, and on performance management in the public sector.
Labs, teams & projects:
Since 2007 he has led extensive training and consulting projects for numerous municipalities in Lower Saxony, facilitating the implementation of new accounting standards. Earlier, he directed the 1996–1998 project “Cost and Performance Accounting in the Lower Saxony State Office for Ecology”.
