Didier GEORGAKAKIS

Didier GEORGAKAKIS is a Professor of Political Science at the University Paris1 - Panthéon Sorbonne, holding a Jean Monnet Chair. He serves as Academic Coordinator of the European General Studies programme at the College of Europe (Bruges campus) since 2021, and has been a Visiting Professor there since 2008. Formerly a Professor at Sciences-Po Strasbourg (1997-2012), he is a Senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France until 2025. His research focuses on EU policy professionals, governance dynamics, and transnational leadership, with seminal works like The Euro-civil service in (times of) crisis (2017) and The field of eurocracy (2012/2013).

Teaching includes the course 'Pouvoir et institutions européennes', blending political sociology with practical career insights. He co-founded the European Alliance for Social Sciences and Humanities, driving SSH advocacy in Horizon Europe. Key roles include chairing Sorbonne's European Public Affairs Master’s program and contributing to ENA/Paris1’s International/European Policies Master’s.

Recent publications explore EU bureaucratic power structures and crisis impacts, with 2024 articles analyzing transnational policy networks and leadership paradigms. Awards include his current and past Institut Universitaire de France memberships and Jean Monnet Chair.
