Diany Calderon

Diany Calderon is an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience in Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medicine and a member of the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences. Her research focuses on neuronal circuitries and cortical dynamics that govern wakefulness and recovery from unconscious states, particularly in pathological conditions like brain injury and anesthesia.

Her lab employs in vivo recordings, optogenetics, and statistical learning to identify biomarkers for consciousness and develop interventions for impaired awareness. Notably, her work describes a five-stage cortical arousal process during coma recovery and a novel method to synchronize EEG patterns with autonomic dynamics.
