Diane May is a Professor at Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU), where she founded and led the Computer Information Systems (CIS) program for 26 years. She holds a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from OPSU. Her career has focused on curriculum development, emphasizing practical skills in computing fields. She is honored as an Alumni Ambassador Hall of Fame recipient, recognizing her contributions to education and alumni engagement.
Dr. May’s research and teaching emphasize adaptive learning, cybersecurity, and interdisciplinary technology applications. Under her leadership, OPSU CIS students achieved 48 top-10 awards in national competitions, competing against larger institutions. The program expanded into computer graphics and information assurance, supported by a 5-year Program of Excellence grant from the Oklahoma State Regents.
Her legacy includes shaping over 200 graduates who work in tech roles across industries, from local businesses to NASA contractors. She credits faculty collaborators like Pamela Nelson Farhendorf and students for the program’s success. Diane and her husband Randy are Life Members of the Panhandle State Association, residing in Amarillo, Texas.
