About
Dr. Dhésmon Lima is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Mount Saint Vincent University. His research focuses on developing electrochemical sensors using inorganic nanomaterials for environmental contaminant detection and disease biomarker analysis. He holds a Doctorate in Inorganic/Analytical Chemistry from the State University of Ponta Grossa (Brazil) and the University of Toronto, with a post-doctoral fellowship from the University of Manitoba.
- BSc in Chemistry (State University of Ponta Grossa, Brazil)
- BEd in Chemistry (Cruzeiro do Sul University, Brazil)
- MSc in Applied Chemistry (State University of Ponta Grossa, Brazil)
- PhD in Inorganic/Analytical Chemistry (State University of Ponta Grossa/University of Toronto)
His interdisciplinary work combines electrochemical methodologies with biosensor design to address environmental and public health challenges, including scanning electrochemical microscopy for mitochondrial dysfunction analysis, impedimetric biosensors for viral and cancer diagnostics, and antioxidant activity studies of cannabis compounds. Recent publications in PNAS, Analytical Chemistry, and Biosensors and Bioelectronics demonstrate applications in biomedical and environmental sensing.
Key research themes include:
- Electrochemical detection systems for disease biomarkers
- Nanostructured materials for enhanced sensing performance
- Environmental contaminant monitoring
- Electroanalytical methods for biomolecular interactions
