Dhruv Bhate

Dhruv Bhate is an Associate Professor at Arizona State University within the School of Manufacturing Systems and Networks. His research group, 3DX Research, focuses on design and mechanics of additive manufacturing (AM) structures and materials. Prior to joining ASU, he held industry roles at PADT, Inc., Intel Corporation, and Tata Motors.

Research spans Additive Manufacturing, Cellular Materials, Bio-inspired Design, and Thermal Engineering. Notable projects include collaborations with NASA and DOD for heat pipe radiators and workforce development in microelectronics. His work combines theoretical, experimental, and simulation approaches for multi-functional lightweight structures.

Recent publications focus on powder bed fusion, infrared thermography for fatigue analysis, and hierarchical natural material properties. Grants include funding from DOD, NASA, and industry partners for optimization of aerospace structures and bio-inspired designs.
