Dharmita Prasad

Dharmita Prasad is a Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Private Law, working under Prof. Dr. Ralf Michaels since September 2023. She holds an LL.M. from the University of Johannesburg (International Commercial Law) and a BA LL.B. (Hons.) from National Law University, Jodhpur, India. She transitioned to academia in 2017 after practicing law (2014–2017), litigating criminal and civil matters in Delhi and district courts. She also holds a master’s in Women’s and Gender Studies from Indira Gandhi National Open University (2023).

Her research focuses on legal pluralism, decolonial theory, private international law, feminist legal theory, and gender studies. She has taught law courses at UPES School of Law, Symbiosis Law School, and O.P. Jindal Global University. Certified as a mediator by the International Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ICDR) and registered as a lawyer under the Bar Council of India.

Her publications analyze intersections between public and private international law, e-contract unconscionability, and CISG frameworks. While no explicit grants are cited, her role as a Research Associate suggests involvement in funded projects under Prof. Michaels. She contributes to the Institute’s Corporate and Tax Law Department, addressing transnational legal challenges.
