Devin Serfas

Devin Serfas is an Assistant Professor and RDAR Chair in Applied Agricultural Economics and Risk Management at the University of Alberta's Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology. He holds a PhD from the University of California, Davis (2024), an MSc from the University of Saskatchewan (2018), and a BSc in Agribusiness (2016). His research focuses on agricultural policy, markets, and farm management, with a particular emphasis on grain handling, R&D investment, intellectual property in agriculture, and agri-environmental policy. His work addresses issues such as soil carbon sequestration, R&D lag models, and wheat export sector dynamics. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals like the Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics and the Annual Review of Resource Economics. Teaching roles include instructor for Intermediate Microeconomics and teaching assistant positions at UC Davis and the University of Saskatchewan.
