Devin M. Garofalo is an Assistant Professor in the Literature Department at the University of California, San Diego, and serves as the journal editor of Victorian Poetry (Johns Hopkins University Press). Her research bridges nineteenth-century literary studies, colonial ecologies, racialization, environmental humanities, gender studies, and poetry's formal innovations. She focuses on how literary forms intersect with material processes of dehumanization and restrictive personhoods across historical periods.
Her awards include the Richard Stein Essay Prize and Vcologies Early Career Prize. Her teaching has been recognized by the North American Society for the Study of Romanticism and the University of North Texas. Previously, she taught at the University of North Texas before joining UC San Diego.
