Deveral Capps

Professor Deveral Capps is the Dean of Leeds Law School at Leeds Beckett University. With nearly three decades of experience in Higher Education, he specializes in legal education, legal skills, and eCommerce law. He is a qualified barrister and door tenant at Trinity Chambers, practicing in civil and criminal law across courts in the North of England.

• Consultant to the Bar Standards Board (BSB)
• Member of BSB’s Future Bar Training Programme Board
• Leader of Brexit-related reviews on European Law in bar training
• Expert in academic quality assurance

As a legal academic, he has led external examination panels, contributed to the Teaching Excellence Framework pilot, and served as Treasurer for the Committee of Heads of University Law Schools. His work currently focuses on reviewing BSB training requirements for advocacy and negotiation skills during pupillage.
