Devan Watt is a Research Associate at the Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering at Boise State University, joining in November 2021. He works within the Quantum DNA (qDNA) research group under Professor Bill Knowlton and Dr. Bernard Yurke, contributing to the Dye Synthesis Team alongside Dr. Olya Mass.
Prior to his current role, he served as a laboratory instructor at Montana State University, Northwest Nazarene University, and College of Western Idaho, teaching general and organic chemistry laboratory courses. He holds an M.S. in Organic Chemistry from Montana State University (2016), where he developed enantioselective ring synthesis methodologies and worked on the partial synthesis of Diazonamide A.
His research at Boise State focuses on creating synthetic analogues of chlorophylls to develop novel chlorophyll-DNA nanomaterials. He is actively involved in collaborative teams such as the Nanoscale Materials and Device Group and the qDNA research initiative.
