Dev Ray

Dev Ray is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music Production and Engineering (MP&E) at Berklee College of Music, where he brings extensive real-world experience from a multifaceted career in the music industry. His roles have spanned studio engineering, producing, performing, tour management, and live sound engineering for prominent artists such as Robert Fripp, Snoop Dogg, Paula Cole, and Cowboy Junkies.

Ray studied at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, Guitar Craft, and Berklee College of Music. His teaching philosophy emphasizes passion for music and integrating practical industry realities into the classroom.

His research and professional interests lie at the intersection of music production, audio engineering, and music technology. With decades of hands-on experience across performance, production, and management, his work bridges artistic expression and technical excellence in modern music practice.

Though no formal publications or awards are listed, his career highlights include tour managing and performing with Robert Fripp and various ensembles of Crafty Guitarists across the U.S. and Mexico, as well as serving as front-of-house engineer and tour manager for acclaimed acts like Cowboy Junkies and Mark Cohn.

Dev Ray mentors students through experiential learning and is deeply engaged in preparing the next generation of music professionals at Berklee.
