Dermot Brady

Dermot Brady is a Senior Lecturer at Kingston University, affiliated with the School of Education, Midwifery and Social Work and the Department of Social Work and Social Care. He specializes in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate social work, focusing on Practice Education, leadership, and early transitions into social work practice. His roles include leading On the Job Learning for Kingston's Integrated Social Work Degree programme and serving as the UK/EU lead for the Caring Dads programme addressing abusive fathering.

Qualifications include an MPeths (2012), ILM certificate (2004), PgDipHE CQSW (1994), and BA (1981). His research interests span domestic abuse, practice education, and technology in social work. He recently contributed a chapter on IT in social work practice and is co-authoring articles on “Black Men in Social Work” and “talking to Children about Forest School.”

He collaborates with employer partners and is a National Trainer for the Caring Dads programme. He led a Home Office report on cross-county lines drug dealing and is an accredited DASH trainer for social work students.
