Derick Brown

Derick Brown is an Adjunct Professor and part-time faculty at the University of San Francisco (USF). He currently serves as Senior Director of the Leo T. McCarthy Center, focusing on ethical public service since 2020. With over 20 years in community advocacy, Brown specializes in cross-sector collaboration, civic learning, and equity-centered policy implementation. His roles include Senior Community Engagement Advisor for the San Francisco Police Department and Director of Neighborhood Services under multiple mayors.

His research interests emphasize resilient community development through collective action, strategic partnerships, and addressing systemic inequities. Brown sits on boards of the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco, Coro Northern California, and the Fillmore Collaborative, among others.
