Derek Kamper

Derek Kamper is a Professor and Associate Director of the Closed-Loop Engineering for Advanced Rehabilitation (CLEAR) Core at North Carolina State University. He holds appointments in the Department of Biomedical Engineering within the College of Engineering. His research focuses on improving upper extremity function through neuromechanical modeling, wearable robotics, and virtual reality interventions.

Research Interests:**

Dr. Kamper leads the Hand Rehabilitation Laboratory, advancing rehabilitation technologies through three core tracks:

1. Neuromechanical analysis of hand function
2. Impairment mechanism identification
3. Development of multi-modal interventions (soft robotics, VR, pharmaceuticals)

Teaching:**

Teaches BME 422: Medical Instrumentation, integrating his expertise in biomedical systems design.
