Jun.-Prof. Dr. Dennis Riehle is an Assistant Professor for Business Informatics and Smart Data at the University of Koblenz. Previously, he held a postdoc position at the University of Münster and was a Research Assistant at the University of Koblenz-Landau and University of Sydney. He is the Managing Director of the Competence Center for Conceptual Modeling at ERCIS and co-founder of Event Information Systems (EVIS) GmbH. His research focuses on data science, process management, and socio-technical systems, with notable work on comment moderation systems, intentional forgetting in organizations, and EPC standardization.
Educationally, Riehle holds a PhD in Business Informatics (2019, University of Münster), an M.Sc. in Business Information Systems (2015, University of Münster), and a Master's thesis from the University of Sydney (2015). His awards include the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship (2018) and the ER Best Demo Award (2017).
His research projects span automated moderation tools (MODERAT!), intentional forgetting mechanisms (SPP 1921), and EPC standardization (SPEAK project). He actively supervises thesis students in areas like smart data applications, process modeling, and machine learning for moderation systems. His work bridges theoretical contributions with practical implementations, emphasizing design science and prototyping.
Riehle's labs and collaborations include the Competence Center for Conceptual Modeling and partnerships with energy trading companies and SAP Campus Management Systems. He teaches courses on Information Modeling and leads project seminars on AI-driven comment analysis.
