Deniz Avci

Dr. Deniz Avci serves as Associate Professor of Architectural History at Izmir University of Economics' Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, specializing in twentieth-century Modern Movement architecture conservation in Turkey with focus on housing and healthcare typologies.

Her educational background includes:

• Ph.D. in Architectural History (2018, Middle East Technical University)
• M.S. in Conservation of Cultural Heritage (2012, Middle East Technical University)
• B.Sc. in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (2009, Başkent University)

Research centers on architectural historiography utilizing film archives, with primary expertise in housing studies, modern heritage conservation, and theory of interior architecture. Current investigations examine sanatorium heritage and mid-century medical-architectural intersections in Turkey.

Scientific recognition includes:

• Modern Architecture Research Award (Turkish Architects' Association-1927) for 'Architecture of Convalescence' project
