Denise Iris

Denise Iris is an award-winning filmmaker and Assistant Professor of Film at Vassar College. Her films have been presented at MoMA New York, broadcast on PBS, and screened internationally at festivals in France, Germany, Argentina, and Czech Republic. She holds a BA from Brown University and MFA from Columbia University.

Research interests focus on experimental narratives, hybrid film forms, and minimalist storytelling through ultra-short formats. Her work explores cultural memory and geopolitical transitions through visual poetry.

Awards include the Silver Spire award, Director's Choice Award, and Critics' Prize. She has received fellowships from MacDowell Colony, NYFA, NYSCA, Sloan Foundation, Jerome Foundation, Bogliasco Foundation, Wexner Center, Djerassi, and Blue Mountain Center.
