Denise B. Klinkner, M.D., M.Ed. is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, serving as a Consultant in the Division of Pediatric Surgery within the Department of Surgery. She holds joint appointments as a Consultant in the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Klinkner serves as the Medical Director of the Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she leads trauma-related research initiatives.
Dr. Klinkner's research focuses on pediatric surgical and trauma care, with specific interests in chest wall deformities, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and fetal surgery topics. Her work in tracheal occlusion for severe congenital diaphragmatic hernia has demonstrated decreased need for extracorporeal life support and improved survival.
