Denis Rafael Nassar Baptista is a composer and pianist affiliated with Trinity Western University as an instructor in the Game Development Department and Prairie College as Songwriting Program Director. His work spans orchestral, chamber, and theatrical compositions, blending Brazilian folk traditions with contemporary styles. He holds a M.Mus. from the University of Calgary under Allan Bell and a B.Mus. from the University of Campinas (Brazil).

His research interests focus on Brazilian musical heritage integration into contemporary composition, music education methodologies, and the fusion of classical and jazz idioms. Recent works include commissions from Orchestre Métropolitain, Calgary Wind Symphony, and Land’s End Ensemble. Awards include the Beethoven’s Legacy honor (2020) and Opera Disrupted victory (2018).
