Delia Carrizales

Dr. Delia Carrizales is an Assistant Professor in the Teacher Education Department at Texas Tech University's College of Education, where she has served as Special Populations Curriculum Program Anchor since 2018. Her research examines transformative methods in bilingual/ESL and special education to promote educational access.

Her scholarship focuses on three primary areas: developing preservice teachers' Spanish proficiency, preparing educators for diverse dual language settings, and training teachers to support English Language Learners with learning disabilities. She employs culturally responsive frameworks to address equity issues in standardized assessments and teacher preparation programs.

Recent publications explore the experiences of Latina bilingual educators, cultural assumptions in mathematics assessment, and community cultural wealth in bilingual teaching. Her work consistently addresses challenges in teacher preparation through testimonio methodologies and mixed-methods approaches that center marginalized voices in education.
