Deirdre Troy

Deirdre Troy is an LSE Fellow in Political Theory at the Department of Government, London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research focuses on citizenship, immigration, and banishment through a historical lens, examining Britain's imperial legacy and its ongoing impact on citizenship practices. She holds a PhD from Queen Mary, University of London, supervised by Professors Kimberly Hutchings and Engin Isin.

Her work critiques normative citizenship theories using archival analysis, highlighting power dynamics and oppression embedded in citizenship institutions. She has published in Citizenship Studies and is developing a monograph on the imperial politics of citizenship revocation.
