About
Debra Walther is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biology at Muhlenberg College. She teaches courses such as Concepts of Biology: From DNA to Cancer (BIO 107), BIO 160, and BIO 175.
- B.S., Biological Sciences, University of Delaware
- Ph.D., Genetics, University of Wisconsin-Madison
- Postdoctoral Fellow, Brandeis University
Her research focuses on recombinational DNA repair mechanisms in yeast, utilizing chromosome tagging and fluorescence microscopy to analyze nuclear dynamics and chromosomal loci during recombination. She develops advanced microscopy techniques to study DNA damage responses and chromosome organization.
Debra Walther has published extensively in high-impact journals, including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Nature, and EMBO Journal, with interests in DNA repair, cell cycle regulation, and yeast genetics.
