Dr. Deborah Vickers is a Speech and Hearing Scientist and Principal Investigator leading the SOUND Lab at the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on improving speech perception for profoundly deafened adults, cochlear dead regions, speech/language development in children, pitch perception training, auditory psychophysics, and electrophysiology-based remapping in cochlear implant users.
She has played a key role in updating UK NICE guidelines for cochlear implant candidacy and established the Translational Auditory Research Group (TARG) to bridge clinical and research collaborations.
The SOUND Lab team includes researchers like Nicholas Haywood, Wilson Liu, Jane Gallacher, and others working on auditory science and hearing technology advancements.
