Deborah Schwartz is an Instructor in the Department of English at The University of Alabama and a faculty member of the UA Early College program, which allows high school students to earn college credits. She also serves as a doctoral student in the College of Education’s Curriculum and Instruction program.
Education:
- Master’s degree in English Education from Troy University.
- Pursuing a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction at The University of Alabama’s College of Education.
Research Interests:
- Creative Writing
- Composition & Rhetoric
- Literature (with focuses on American and British periods, including Early American, Late American, and 19th/20th-Century British)
- Linguistics/TESOL
- Digital Humanities
- Critical Theory
Teaching and Grants:
- Experience includes teaching high school English/computer science and college-level courses in freshman composition and literature.
- Implemented a federal grant program for at-risk students.

- President of the Englewood Elementary and Hillcrest Middle School Parent-Teacher-Student Organization Executive Boards.
- Board member for the local Boy Scouts of America.
