Deborah Rifkin

Deborah Rifkin is a Professor in the Composition and Music Studies department at the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, Ithaca College, specializing in Music Theory, Music Studies, Musical Theatre, and Pedagogy. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor at Oberlin College Conservatory.

Her educational background includes:

• Ph.D. from the Eastman School of Music
• M.M. from the University of Michigan (with a minor in violin performance)
• B.A. from Binghamton University

Professor Rifkin's research focuses on feminist theory in music analysis, aural skills pedagogy, and the works of Sergei Prokofiev and Jennifer Higdon. She actively contributes to scholarly discourse through publications and conference presentations.

She holds memberships in the Society for Music Theory, Editorial Board for Music Theory Online, College Music Society, and Music Theory Society of New York State.
