Deborah Pope

Deborah Pope is a Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Chester, specializing in science education and research methods. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Zoology from the University of Liverpool, an MA in Educational Management and a PhD from Liverpool John Moores University. Her professional roles include Chair of the School of Education Research Ethics Committee, committee member of the National Primary Teacher Education Council, and member of the university's Athena Swan self-assessment team. She is also a national Athena Swan reviewer for Advance HE.

Deborah’s research focuses on subject knowledge for primary teaching, curriculum and pedagogy, and teacher identity and professional learning. She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate education programs and supervises Masters and Doctoral research students. Her work emphasizes practical applications of educational theory, such as using WebQuests for inquiry-based learning and exploring conservation education in primary settings.
