Deborah Knowles

Deborah Knowles is a Senior Lecturer and Teaching Associate in Music at Lake Forest College, where she has served for over 20 years. She holds a BME and MM from Northwestern University. Her roles include teaching courses such as Fundamentals of Music, American Music, and conducting ensembles. She is an active percussionist and has performed with groups like the Lake Forest Symphony and Light Opera Works, serving as principal percussionist for over two decades.

Education: BME and MM from Northwestern University. Courses taught include Music 107, Percussion Ensemble, Music 111-13, and others. Performances include leading musicals such as West Side Story, Oklahoma!, and The Fantasticks. She has recorded with multiple ensembles and plays multiple instruments including baritone sax, flute, and tuba.

Professional engagements include the Kenosha and Evanston Symphonies, Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, jazz bands, and community theater groups. She also participates in the New Horizons Band and has been involved in various light opera productions.
