Dr. Dean Phillips is a Senior Research Adviser at the NIHR Research Design Service South Central and a Principal Teaching Fellow in Physiotherapy at the School of Health Sciences, University of Southampton. With over 30 years of clinical experience, he specializes in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and posture/movement awareness research.
- Educational Background: PhD in posture and movement awareness in low back pain, Specialist Research Masters in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
- Clinical Experience: National Sports Council, Chronic Pain Centre, NHS/private hospitals, occupational health, and international roles in Singapore and Western Australia.
Research Interests: Focus on musculoskeletal disorders, low back pain, chronic pain management, and healthy ageing. His work explores diagnostic methods, manual therapy, and physiotherapy education. Recent publications include systematic reviews on diagnostic accuracy and evaluations of hydrotherapy interventions.
Teaching: Leads musculoskeletal teaching for the physiotherapy program and coordinates modules in Complex Clinical Management and Managing Clinical Cases at both MSc and BSc levels.
Supervision: Current supervisor to PhD student Leon Matthew Campbell in Health Sciences.
