Dean Mc Donnell is a Lecturer in the Department of Humanities at Southern Education and Technology University (SETU). He is affiliated with the Spirituality in Society and the Professions Research Group and socialCORE. His research focuses on mental health, public health policy, and pandemic response mechanisms. He holds a PhD in Psychology from Trinity College Dublin (2017), an MSc in Cyberpsychology from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (2024), and a BSc in Psychology Applied to Information Technology (2010).
Mc Donnell’s research interests include analyzing the psychological impacts of global health crises, healthcare policy efficacy, and societal behaviors during pandemics. His work often intersects with public health strategies, nutrition policy, and cultural influences on health outcomes. Recent studies have explored language patterns during the pandemic, childhood trauma effects, and alcohol abuse interventions in China.
He currently serves as a Council Member of the Psychological Society of Ireland and an External Examiner at Technological University of the Shannon and the University of Hull. Mc Donnell is actively involved in media engagements, discussing workplace wellbeing, technology’s impact on behavior, and achieving meaningful happiness through intentional practices.
