Dr. DeAnna Laverick is Professor and Coordinator of the Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction in the Department of Professional Studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania's College of Education and Human Services. A former elementary school teacher and reading specialist, she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy, educational leadership, and curriculum design. Her research examines literacy instruction, creativity development, educational transitions, and technology integration.
Publications include the books Mentoring Processes in Higher Education and Transitions to Early Care and Education: International Perspectives on Making Schools Ready for Young Children (co-edited). Her scholarship investigates topics spanning artist residencies in teacher education, technology's role in literacy instruction, and children's perceptions of canine behavior. She has presented nationally on arts-based teaching, literacy practices, and early childhood education.
