Dawn Houk

Dawn Houk serves as an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Counseling and Psychology Department at Life Pacific University, overseeing academic programs including the BA in Human Development & Psychology and MA in Counseling. Her professional background combines clinical practice, academic leadership, and missionary work.

Dawn’s expertise spans Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Pastoral Ministry, informed by her missionary upbringing in Brazil and decades of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). She specializes in therapist mentorship, organizational intake processes, and integrating faith-based principles with clinical practice.

Her industry contributions include co-founding Houk Behavioral Health, LLC with her husband, Dr. Ray Houk (Adjunct Professor at LPU), to provide professional development and mentorship. The couple, who have two young adult children, will relocate from the East Coast to California to further invest in Life Pacific University’s mission, having previously served in the United States Navy and Foursquare Church networks, including Foursquare Missions International and Foursquare Chaplains International (FCI).
