Daw Alwerfalli

Daw Alwerfalli is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Robotics and Industrial Engineering Engineering at Lawrence Technological University, serving as Director of the Master of Engineering Management program and Faculty Advisor for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) student chapter. His expertise bridges academic instruction and industry applications in manufacturing systems.

His educational foundation includes a Doctor of Engineering (DE) and Master of Engineering (ME) in Manufacturing from the University of Detroit, a Master of Science (MS) in Textile Engineering from Georgia Tech, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of AL-Fateh in Tripoli, Libya.

Research focuses on Quality Management Systems (ISO 9000, AS 9100), Lean Manufacturing strategies, and Six Sigma methodologies, with significant contributions to automotive systems redesign, production facility optimization, and manufacturing safety training. His work emphasizes practical integration of quality tools into engineering management education.

Notable honors include the Arab American of the Year in Education (2009), Michigan Outstanding Engineering Faculty of the Year Award (2004), and the Marburger Faculty Member of the Year Award (1997). Additional recognition encompasses the Community Role Model in Education award from Forum and Link (2010).

As an academic leader, he directs the MEM program and mentors the SME student chapter. Professional engagement spans Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), North America Die Casting Association (NADCA), and American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE), alongside board service for the Arab American Chamber of Commerce and MEDC Steering committee for the Dual Education System.
